This is one of my favorite recent pictures of Ryan because he looks so happy - he was laughing and having fun! He was playing around wearing Dada's boots. He LOVES to walk around in our shoes and does it a lot. This picture was taken February 3rd - I need to be better about keeping up!!!

OK, I give up!
Kate is asleep in her exersaucer as I type this, after my attempts to get her to nap for over an hour. That hour+ was after she fell asleep in her highchair. That highchair cat nap was obviously enough to allow her to laugh and cruise as I tried to get her to sleep in her crib and pack n play. So now, I am going to just let her get some rest as she wishes :-)
UPDATE: shortly after posting this, she woke up crying, so I took her upstairs and put her in her crib, but she wasn't happy if I left the room. So I sat in the rocker for a bit, and ended up crawling out on my hands and knees after a bit (she was still awake). LOL!

snow day
While Katie was down for her morning nap, Marc and I took Ryan out to play in the snow! We all had so much fun. We all took lots of sled rides, made a snowman, and played with the bulldozer and buckets. When we came in, Ryan had his first mug of hot cocoa - he LOVED it and kept saying "HOT cocoa HOT cocoa!!" All of that activity still didn't make him want to take a nap :-(
Katie has been doing great with eating - here she is this morning having a blast with prunes all over her face! She has had cereal, applesauce, pears, prunes, peaches, bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, and probably a few that I'm forgetting. So far she likes everything.
Here are some pics - go here if you want to see more :-)

why is my face wet?
Lately when Ryan cries about something, after he calms down, he gets a pout face and says "wet!!!" and wipes his cheeks and eyes. LOL, he just can't understand why his face gets wet! Poor little guy - it's bad enough to be upset enough to cry (not that it takes much sometimes), and then his face ends up all wet :-)

reaching . . .
Katie has been rolling all over the place and can travel quite a distance. She has also been going up on her knees and hands and rocking, as well as moving backwards. She really started some forward motion on the 1st, and has been making progress every day. This video is from this evening. She is very determined to get what she wants! It's funny that she is going after this book because the first time Ryan really crawled was for a book like this :-)

ho ho ho, scary Christmas
Poor Ryan was so scared of Santa when we went to get his picture taken tonight. I really thought he'd like him because he seems to like characters (like the Minnie Mouse we saw at Perkins on kid's night, LOL). I also talked a lot about going to visit him - told him he could ask Santa for a candy cane, presents, etc.
We tried, but we didn't want to push him too much - it's just not that important! He wouldn't even sit on the couch next to Santa and Katie. He also would not sit with Santa without Katie, or stand near him, or sit on a wooden present on the floor near them (a prop they use for older kids), or sit near him with Daddy, or on Daddy's lap. Would not could not. Not on a box. Not with a fox. Not in a house. Not with a mouse.
So, we have a picture of Katie smiling and looking happy as pie. I think she asked Santa for a few things for her brother :-)
