a walk to the playground

This is from a few days ago - I love when she falls asleep and has her hands turned like this - the other one was the same way. So sweet :-)

Ryan and Kate have been enjoying their wagon rides together - I'll have to work on getting smiles on camera. It's really adorable when Ryan starts tickling her and I'm pulling a wagon full of giggles :-)

Always the climber . . .

Kate got to play a lot today (more than just the swings) and she really enjoyed it!

They both LOVE the swings!

Does she look nervous?

hush little baby, don't say a word

we have our own nest of mockingbirds!

The first pictures of the 3 eggs were taken on May 20th. The pictures of the baby birds were taken today, May 30th. The last picture shows the scotch broom bush that they chose for the nest. It still hasn't fully bloomed - but they have good taste in bushes :-)

We aren't exactly sure when they hatched, but it had to be in the last 2 days.

awww :-)

Katie got an early birthday card in the mail today.

The inside of the card says "Who's the cuddliest, giggliest, darlingest, wiggliest, sugar pie under the sun? It's the lovable, huggable, cute-as-a-bug-able sweet baby girl turning 1"

And I thought, "wow, those words describe Katie PERFECTLY!" I might be just a tad biased though :-)

teeth, baths, and baseball

Here is Katie's best shark impression, thanks to Ryan and his tickling. This turns out to be a great view of her current teething situation - the poor girl. She really only has those 2 bottom teeth, but you can see 4 (or maybe even 6) that are very close to pushing through on the top - all at once. She has been a doll about it though!

a few more post-bath pictures from tonight . . .

Here is a reluctant 2.5 year old posing with FeFe, one of the Iron Pigs mascots at his first baseball game. That was Sunday, May 3rd, our 6 year wedding anniversary. In the rain. Katie was a trooper in her Ergo carrier with Daddy, but Ryan was less than thrilled most of the time. It was a long day, but I'll happily take rain on any May 3rd as I fondly remember the gorgeous weather in 2003 :-)

yum!

Don't even THINK about taking away her shake! She was holding on tightly with both hands! I guess it was good! She would get anxious if I even looked like I might touch the cup :-) Kate has been refusing to eat baby food for some time now - and she will only occasionally let me feed her some yogurt with a spoon. We went to the store yesterday and I got some frozen blueberries, cherries, blackberries, and plain organic whole milk yogurt. This morning I was all set to get the blender out when I remembered the fruit baby food we have that she rarely eats - so I just stirred that together in a cup with a bit of fruit juice, and she was thrilled! She LOVES using a straw! She did great with it from the start - I think we first tried it just a few days ago. This will be a great way for her to get some more fruit and dairy (and to use up that baby food!) and she'll probably love it even more when I start using the blender to add fruit!

Oh, and one more thing - she has finally started babbling "mamamamama" - she started last night at the store :-) She doesn't use it for me specifically yet, but at least she can make that sound now! She is getting better with "cat" - she loves looking and pointing at them and consistently makes the same sound to say that. She's getting so big!
